Suspect who broke glass panel of PAS HQ was on drugs, cops say

KUALA LUMPUR: The 36-year-old man who hurled stones at the PAS headquarters building here was high on drugs at the time, according to police.

City police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said a urine test on the suspect came back positive for methamphetamines.

"He was arrested at Lorong Haji Taib 1, Chow Kit at around 10pm on Sunday (July 30).

"We have remanded the suspect while the case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief and causing damage," he told reporters on Monday (July 31).

On Saturday (July 29), PAS lodged a police report after a man threw stones at the glass wall of its headquarters, a few hours before the start of the nomination process for elections in six states.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain was quoted as saying on Saturday that the suspect, who was riding a motorcycle, made a noise before throwing the stones.

He added that the building's guards witnessed the incident. A glass panel of the building was shattered.
